The New Year is with us and the Florida Surf Museum has had its first year under our new name. Although we still a local museum with our roots in the Cocoa Beach and Space Coast surfing community we have begun expanding our horizons toward the history of Florida Surfing in general, primarily through our website and Facebook pages. Please visit our website and please feel free to contribute stories and photos, even if it is just a picture and a few sentences.

In case you somehow did not hear about it, the museum sponsored Surfing Santas of Cocoa Beach event was a huge success and probably many of you were there to share in the fun and craziness. We are honored that the Trosset family has made the museum the focus of this event. We are proud to be supporting Mike Roger’s worthy charity Grind for Life and are pleased to be able to donate $5000 to the organization.

We continue into the new year with our current exhibits- Shortboard Evolution Revolution and Sidewalk Surfing/ The Florida Connection. Check them out on our website https://floridasurfmuseum.org or better yet go to the museum and see the real thing. Upcoming exhibits for 2016 include a show from noted surf photographer Tony Aruzza which combines surfboards from some of the world’s most respected shapers with Tony’s unique photographic art.

We won’t be neglecting the important things- hanging out at the beach and partying. Coming up again on March 26th will be the 16th annual Florida State Paddleboard Championship. The Waterman’s Challenge is coming up on June 4th and 5th and the Florida Women of the Waves gathering will be in October. In the meantime we will be having even more of our swap meet/cookouts that were so popular last summer.

So please join us- participate, contribute, volunteer or just hang out. 2016 is going to be a great year!
