Wave Rider Magazine
(17 issues available)
Wave Rider/Skate Rider – When Peter Townsend formed the International Professional Surfers organization in 1975 in Hawaii, John and Gunnar Griffin quickly formed the American Professional Surfers to represent stateside pro surfing. Simultaneously, they began publication of Wave Rider Magazine to support the fledgling organization. This magazine was in print from 1975 to 1982 and featured extensive contest coverage including the historic Florida Pro series which was also founded by the Griffin brothers. It also features interviews, travelogues and photography by many talented photographers. They later added Skate Rider Magazine to his publication which was equally involved in promoting the sport of skateboarding. The quarterly was literally printed back-to-back. One half of the magazine was Wave Rider – flip it over and the other half was Skate Rider.
